Community planning

Community planning has always formed a key part of our offer at Urban Imprint. Our extensive experience supporting community led projects and neighbourhood planning gives us a real understanding of how to open up the world of planning and design to people from all walks of life.

We enjoy equipping people with the understanding, knowledge and tools to truly engage in local decision and policy making. Over the years we have worked closely with communities to produce planning policies, design briefs and design guidance to help shape local decisions and ensure high quality good design comes forward in their area. Alongside our work we offer training events to give people the skills to give meaningful feedback to development and policy proposals during the planning process.

Ryebank Fields

We ran a site walkover for local residents to discuss the opportunities and constraints of a site in south Manchester whilst providing guidance on how to make a representation on a planning application. We helped the group to identify specific elements of the proposal to focus on to ensure that they concentrated their efforts on more influential planning matters.

Wilmslow

This was an exciting opportunity to work with local residents and stakeholders in formulating policies and guidance to shape their neighbourhood plan. The group was keen to focus on enhancing the green infrastructure and biodiversity offer and focusing on how areas of the town should be redeveloped. We acted as a facilitator for much of their work, providing training and giving them the knowledge and tools to shape their neighbourhood plan.
